There was a Groupon for the Children's Museum at La Habra, so we decided to check it out. Here are the highlights.

1. Trains!
On our way from the parking lot to the entrance of the museum, we came across two rows of old, non-operating train cars complete with a passenger car and a caboose that you can enter.

Inside the caboose

2. Dinosaurs
Right outside of the museum entrance are a few statues of dinosaurs. The kids loved the baby triceratops.

3. Buster the bus
Inside the carousel room is Buster the bus. This was a real treat for my son who is currently obsessed with buses.

4. Carousel
The carousel is a very small yet charming carousel for children younger than 5. The animals are hand carved according to the brochure. One thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't run consistently; an announcement is made over the speaker system before they start it. I believe it only runs every 20 minutes but don't hold me to that.

5. The Nature Walk
I have mixed feelings about the "nature walk," which is basically a room crammed with taxidermy animals; but the kids seemed to like petting the animals. Beware of the claws though.

6. The model trains
Down the hall from the Nature Walk room is the model trains. This drew my son's attention immediately. The trains only run every 10 minutes for maybe a minute long. I understand the museum is trying to conserve energy but it would've been nice to see the trains run for little bit longer.

Overall, I'm definitely glad we checked out the museum. Unfortunately, the "Changing Exhibits" room was out of commission at the time of our visit so we may have to make a second trip once the new exhibit has been finished.
