Bubblefest (and Lego Travel Adventue) at the Discovery Cube

We just got back from the Discovery Cube in Santa Ana where we checked out the Bubblefest exhibit and the Lego Travel Adventure exhibit.

Let's start with the Bubblefest
The Bubblefest runs until April 15, 2015 and there is an additional $7/person admission fee to enter the Bubblefest area. General admission to the Discovery Cube is $16.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 3-14 years old. Children 2 years old and younger are free.

Mega Bubblefest Laser Show

The absolute best part of Bubblefest is the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show featuring Deni Yang, who is bubble scientist wizard extraordinaire. This guy is amazing! Bubbles in bubbles, "smoke" filled bubbles, splitting bubbles. Crazy, it's just crazy, what he can do. The kids are able to sit on the floor so they can be up close to the action. The show is about 45 minutes long but he definitely keeps the audience in amazement the entire time.

Water Spheres

Kids in giant plastic bubbles on water...sounds fun or chaotic...depends who you ask. We didn't try these out for two reasons: one, the line was really long and two, I could just picture K being unable to figure out how to make the sphere go anywhere as she was being bonked by older kids in their spheres. This does seem like a very popular attraction for the older kids.

Inflatables

Now it's not bubble related, but the kids had the best time on the inflatable slide. Adults are not able to accompany the children; but lucky for me, R just figured out how to climb up to the top of these without my help. In addition to the slide was a bounce house with a small slide and basketball hoop.

Bubblezone

This is a fairly small area with about 6 or 7 bubble stands, so on a busy day, you could wait a while for a turn. The kids had a blast making huge bubbles and trying to recreate stunts that they saw in the bubble show like putting a kid in a bubble. Our attempt was a fail but it was still a blast.

5 & Under Play Area

It's nice that they have an area designed for the smaller kids. They have more bubble stands with wands that are lighter but still big enough to make giant bubbles. In addition to the big bubble stands, they have other fun bubble making tools for kids to play with.

Lego Travel Adventure
We hadn't planned on going to the Lego exhibit but it's included with the admission to the Discovery Cube. This exhibit runs until May 10, 2015.

Build a Race Car

The kids had a fun time building a race car or their interpretation of a race car and watching them slide down the slope into the giant pile of Legos.

Lego Displays

There are awesome displays of transportation vehicles from the past and present from different parts of the world. R loved seeing all of the boats, planes, trains, and pretty much anything that can "go."

Create a Vehicle Transport to Another Part of the World
This station encourages kids to create their own vehicle. Once you've completed your creation, you can take a picture of it in a green box and choose a background from different countries.

Fly a Plane
It's a little flight simulator for kids. I'm pretty confidant that my kids are able to get us at least to Hawaii now.

We don't visit the Discovery Cube often due to the cost of admission for the amount of time we spend there. We've visited the Thomas the Train exhibit last year but we only spent an hour there. For the Bubblefest and Lego Travel Adventure Exhibits, we only spent about three hours at the Discovery Cube. There are coupons available if you do a little googling. I came across one coupon that was for a free child's admission with a paid adult's admission. Score!
